Catalyst Night Shelter
We believe that every person in our borough should have a safe place to sleep and a safe place to speak. This is why we’ve designed our Shelter to be more than just shelter. We are accessible every night of the week, with a different church and a different team of volunteers hosting each evening.
Our aim is to identify the specific help each guest needs and to assist in devising and executing a plan to find and sustain a workable housing situation.
Thrive Community Housing
Many guests at Catalyst Night Shelter present with medium-level support needs. This means that a primary obstacle to securing accommodation and accessing employment or training is a more general gap in Life Skills and disrupted self-esteem. In 2013 we launched Thrive Community Housing as a response to this growing number of guests who need extra support. We help facilitate independent living in managed properties with goal-oriented support packages and access to skills training, volunteer opportunities and social activities.
36% of all guests who access Catalyst Night Shelter suffer with issues relating to substance misuse. This need – coupled with our belief that recovery requires community – drove the development of our Transformations Programme. Our 6 bed facility is the hub of the residential mentoring community where we guide residents in recovery through a rigorous and structured process of personal development and spiritual growth.
